Abstract Watercolor 4/30

Hi! Flowers are one of my very favorite things to sketch, stamp, or paint so I had to do another card for today`s Free 4 All Challenge. We are celebrating May Day. Read about it here.
F4A10

I used Bazzill textured CS for my base. I used European Watercolor Paper for my painting and matted it with PTI Hawaiin Shores.

Several of you have expressed interest in my watercolor pictures. Usually I choose my colors first. It pays to use a good quality watercolor paper and watercolors. I use Peerless. They have such an array of colors and are easy to use. I also use an AquaBrush and usually a liner pen and brush. You can wet your paper or mist it after applying some colors. Let it roll on the paper. Then scrape some spots with your nail, toothpick, most anything. Not hard enough to tear the paper. Just to make streaks. Now the hardest part. Let it DRY! When you see forms shaping add to them. Let dry again. Then you can use an outline pen, or liner brush to outline. I like more of an abstract look so quite often I do not even do this. You can then add more color as needed. It really is a good bit of fun. And...different people will see different things in your work. That is what I so love about abstracts. So give it a try! Have any questions please just leave me a comment and I will get back to you. Thanks for you taking the time to visit my blog and leave such wonderful comments. YOU keep me going!!
Hi Sis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember tonight is the drawing!! By midnight!!

I could not sleep so this is what I came up with. I will probably do another tomorrow while I am not tired but thought I had it done so would upload it anyway! It is painted with Peerless Watercolors on European Watercolor paper and very thinly matted with black and distressed. Added a tiny bit of white gel pen to the centers. Thanks for peeking and have a fabulous day!

WT268 Challenge Card 4/29

Hi! Today`s Way to Use It Challenge is Crazy for Chipboard. I did this card for my sweet dh who told me to book our vacation again for our yearly visit with my sister and her other half. The place is a huge luxury home right on the beach and I feel ever so pampered and spoiled! Started out with Bazzill CS and ran it through the Argyle EB Folder to give it more a man look. Then just added the glittered chipboard pieces. The inside DP is from Deja Vu and almost matches the embossing. I so appreciate the wonderful man I have been married to for 38 years...so enjoy making him just because cards. Thanks for taking a peek and have a fabulous day! Going outside with our dogs to take advantage of this glorious weather!
:-) Hi Sis!!!!!!! It is booked!!!!!!!
One more day until the drawing is held at midnight!

Bluebirds Visit 4/26

Hi Peeps! Had to share these photos with you! No, they may not be the best in quality but you can see them! I was caught unaware this morning going into the kitchen. The male bluebird first came to the window for a visit and then the female joined him! I just think they are so precious! We have two huge trees in our back yard and you can often see them sitting on our fence. They also often take up residence in a few bluebird houses we have up.
Just returned from the a routine doctors visit and since it is so late and I am so behind in some routine chores I may actually forego a card today.
The kids came this weekend and we had such a great time! The computer transition is done and this thing is smoking! Have to get used to a few differences in Windows 7....I was annoying as I walked around all weekend saying : "I am a PC. And Windows 7 was my idea" like they do in the commercial. LOL I can actually see this size monitor and not have to squint a bit!! :-)
Please remember the blog candy drawing will be held by midnight on April 30!! So tell your friends to join in the fun!!
May be back late tonight with tomorrows challenge card...we will see!!
Have a fabulous day everyone!!

QFTD06 Challenge Card 4/23

Hi! Ctorina aka Cathleen is our Queen for the Day! Thanks much M for stepping in for Anne today. And fabulous sample cards girls! Read about it here.
QFTD06 Challenge

Congrats to you Cathleen! You are so talented and genuine too! Great combo in my book!! This is the card I chose to case although many of yours are favorited to do later!
Cathleen`s Card
I loved the simple elgance of this card. I hope I captured a bit of you in  it. I changed the base of my card to white and switched the colored panel. Used a different color (yeah! River Rock!) and dp and my bow is smaller. I did my sentiment differently and added the pearl strand with ceramic roses. I did this for a very special graduate who is as beautiful as she is smart. My niece has graduated from Dartmouth Medical School and now has her Ph.D. She is working in Cancer Research. So I wanted a feminine yet elegant card for her. What do you think?
Thanks for looking and have a fabulous day!
Hi Sis!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am switching computers over the weekend so my time here will be limited. Can`t wait for the new one to be up and running! Hugs all!

Free 4 All Challenge 4/23

Hi! I did this card for today`s Free 4 All challenge ~ To take a Virtual vacation. Thanks Wendy! Read about it here.
F4A9 Challenge
I have always been connected to the ocean from the time I was a young girl. I was lucky enough to have a fabulous Godmother who had a cottage at Cape Cod and I spent the summers with our family there. And now that I am in NC we visited our beaches so often that our son went to college there and he and his wife have settled there. :-) So when I need a minute to myself I go to this special place that is embedded in my childhood memories. I lightly sketched a bit and got out my Peerless Watercolors and Aquabrush and had some fun! I hope you like it...I am always a bit self conscience uploading my watercolors. But I am getting braver! Thanks for looking and have a fabulous day tomorrow! It is already tomorrow here! LOL Hi Sis!!!!!!!!!!

Double Challenge Card Again 4/22

Hi! This is my final card for the Beach Party Release Week Challenges by Verve. This is Sketch 4. You can read about it here.
WT267 Challenge

And when I finished it I realized it also qualified for today`s Way to Use It challenge which was to mix patterns. You can read about it here.
Beach Party Release Week Challenges by Verve

The paper did all the work! I love this DP called Lilac Avenue by Kaisercraft. IRL it is really sparkly. The only stamp is the sentiment from Verve. Thanks for peeking and have a great evening!
Hi Sis!!!!!!!!

Double Challenge Card 4/22

Hi! This is a double challenge card. The first challenge is the Way to Use It~ Today Julia told us to Mix Patterns. Read about it here.

WT267 Challenge

I used a white base and then used SU DP as a layer and one of my strips is another pattern. The second challenge is Beach Party Release Week Challenge which is a fabulous sketch. Read about it here.
Beach Party Release Week Challenges

I flipped the sketch and made my card square to accomodate my image which is from Penny Black and was cut out with a square nestie and sponged the sky and ground while still in the die. I colored the image with Copic Markers. One of my strips is sheer ribbon and I added a Prima flower and gemstones. The sentiment is from Verve on the inside and out. This is a belated birthday card for a fabulous stamper here at SCS. I did not forget...life just got in the way! So on the inside the card says~ Good things are worth the wait...another great sentiment from Verve. I love their stamps and can`t wait for this release. The sneak peeks have been fabulous! Thanks for looking and have a fabulous day!! Can`t believe how late it has become. Peggy I so enjoyed talking to you today while creating!! Love ya gf!!
Hi Sis!!!!!!!!

Double Challenge Card Inside 4/22

Hi! Just wanted to show the inside of my birthday kitty card. I used SU DP and used a SU Border Punch on the side and a MS Corner Punch on one corner. I added a Prima Flower. Then punched a scallop circle, inked the edges, curled it in, and added the sentiment from Verve. Doing this backwards I guess so read the following post for it to make sense!

Double Challenge Card 4/20

Hi! This is a double challenge card. This great sketch comes from Julee from Verve. This is the second challenge for Beach Party Release Week Challenge ~ VSAPRBP2. Read about it here.
Beach Party Release Week Challenges ~ Verve

I had to do at least one beach themed card even though I don`t have the new stamps yet. But you can bet I will be ordering this entire release!
The 2nd challenge is Teapot Tuesday Challenge 90. We are going to the Kentucky Derby! Read this great story here.
Teapot Tuesday Challenge 90
Let me tell you our Muddermark can spin a yarn and make the perfect replica of teapots!!! She is now famous!! I don`t own a horse so I thought the fastest way to get there and pick up stranded teapartiers would be by ship!! Good reasoning ... I thought! So I will see you at the party!
I started with a white base and Webster Pages DP did all the work. Although I do believe it took me longer to make this card than if I had to color several images! LOL I used the same dp inside and on the envelope. Added some twine, bling, and a starfish charm. My sentiment is from Verve and says miss you like crazy I thought this may be the perfect card to send my sister when she is gone on her cruise. Don`t tell her! LOL Guess I will find out if she actually reads the write ups on my cards! Thanks for looking if you are still with me and have a great evening.
Hi Sis!!!!!!!!!!

Double Challenge Card 4/20

Hi! This is a double challenge card. First it is for today`s Color Challenge brought to us by Betty. We were to use Basic Gray, Apricot Appeal, and Sage Shadows as the last two will be retiring. Read about it here.
CC267 Color Challenge

The dessert option was to use lace which I did. The 2nd challenge is VSAPRBP3 ~ Beach Party Release Week Challenge from Verve. Read about it here.
Beach Party Release Week Challenges from Verve
I started out with a Bazzill textured cs base. My card is a 6 x 6 square. My next layer is SU Sage Shadows and the next Basic Gray. The three panels are from Memory Box paper and I used them on the inside of the card as well. The wreath and sentiment are from Verve and done on SU Apricot Appeal. I added my lace and swiped it with Sage Shadows ink. Then added Dew Drops and a Prima Daisy. I turned back one corner and used a square clip from SU Hardware. I also added a bee. All my layers are distressed and sanded. Now I need to go back and do the 2nd challenge card as I did this one out of order. There are 5 in total. Thanks for looking and have a fabulous day!!
Hi Sis !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sue`s Card
I kept the tree theme but changed the stamps and sentiment. I kept the black and white color combo but added stickles since this is a fun card and not a sympathy card. I ran my black panel through an eb folder as well as the envelope. I used a MS corner punch on my main panel and on the inside Memory Box DP. The sentiment reads ~ What sweet delights a quiet life affords. Thanks for taking a look and have a great day! Hugs to you Sue! Hope you like it!

If I have something to go by I do alright painting or drawing it but I still need much work! I used our state bird. I cut out a Labels 6 from Spellbinders. Then I sketched the bird and tree branch lightly. I used a combination of Peerless Watercolors, Copic Markers, and a Signo Pen. I sponged the sky in. I added flower gemstones and NC. The inside and envelope is a stamp from Memory Box. Thanks for taking a look and have a wonderful day!

Flutter By Wednesday 104 Challenge
I decided to go with simple as I printed this digi image a bit larger and wanted the card to highlight the gorgeous fairy. I cut the image out with a deckled edge blade and sponged the sky. I colored her with Copic Markers and popped her up. I added Diamond Glaze and Prisma Glitter to her wings. I used a corner punch inside and on the envelope. Wish me luck!! Thanks for peeking and have a magical day! It looks like I will as I have glitter on me and my dog! LOL
Hi Sis!!!!!!

SC275 Challenge

Thanks Roxie! She always brings us the best!
Great way to use scraps of paper up with this one. My CS and DP are both from SU. The beautiful floral image is from Innovative Stamp Creations which can be found here. Her stamps are wonderfully detailed but so easy to color!

I colored with Copic Markers and sponged with Barely Banana. Added Fruit Punch Stickles to the centers of the flowers (hard to capture in photo) and tiny gems. Cut it out and popped it up! Thanks for looking and have a fabulous day!!

MMTPT88 Challenge

I used the topnote die with a Penny Black image and a sentiment that says ~ Just chicken to see how you`ve been doing... from Inky Antics. Added a punched bow and rhinestone, photo corners and punched opposite sides with a MS Corner Punch inside. Won`t you join in the fun? Thanks for peeking at my work and comments are always so much appreciated.

Hi and Happy Easter everyone!! Today`s Featured Stamper is TheresaCC. Congrats to you Theresa! You have an amazing talent for all things stamping and you are such an awesome artist! A well deserved honor you should enjoy this week.

I chose this card to case.
Theresa`s Card
I changed mine to a square, changed the main colors, and stamps used. I kept the same basic idea of one large main area and matted very thinly with the black. I changed my base to Hawaiian Shores CS rather than white and the brads to three black pearls. I colored my image with Copic Markers. I used a MS Corner Punch inside my card and on the envelope. The dp is Euphoria from BG. Thanks for taking a peek! Hope you get to spend your day with loved ones and have some time to reflect on what Easter means to you.

Hi Peeps! For those of you who don`t know...I am Lithuanian (both sides of my family) And on Easter after coloring and decorating our eggs (and after going to church) we would always choose what we thought was going to be the hardest egg. We had an egg cracking event. My grandfather (on my mom`s side) always won! I think it was not so much the egg but how he held it when someone would try and crack his! He left very little of his egg showing. I have tried to master his technique but no such luck! Isn`t it funny the small events and customs such as these we look so forward to as children. I hope my children pass this fun game on to their own. :-)

Here is my recipe for Swedish Coffee Buns which are melt in your mouth delicious! Ironic too as my dh and I are starting Atkins Monday and cannot eat bread.
Scald 1 cup canned milk. Pour over 1 stick of butter. Add 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon salt. When cooled down add 2 beaten eggs (room temp) and 1 yeast cake. Adding cardamom is optional but we loved the taste. Add 4 to 5 cups bread flour...depending on the moisture in the air the day you make them...I usually ended up with 5 cups. Let rise in covered bowl for 1 hour. Make rolls and let rise again. I made mine by pinching off a twist and actually tied them in a criss cross. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. YUMMY!

Talk to you tomorrow! Go to sleep all you peeps so the Easter bunny makes it to your house! And blessings to you all.
Hi Sis!!!!!!!
Hi! YAY! I finally felt well enough to do a card today. Some `ole bug had a hold on me and would not let go! Thanks to all who sent me pm`s and emails hoping I got better fast. I appreciate it! Todays Inspiration Challenge Steph sent us to William Chambers Millinery. What fabulous hats! I can remember trying on my grandmothers hats when I was a young girl. What fun that was! I got my inspiration from this hat.

Pink Flower Hat
It reminded me of a butterfly. :-) I used pink shimmer cs and punched the opposite corners (inside and out) with an EK Success Corner Punch. The envelope is embossed partially with the Swiss Dots EB Folder. I used the grass from Inspired by Nature and my sentiment says springtime...there is magic in the air... and is by Penny Black. The butterfly is by Prima and really sparkles irl. Thanks for taking a peek! Hope everyone has a joyous Easter weekend! Will be back later to tell you about an old Lithuanian custom and to share a recipe. :-)
