A White Christmas Indeed!

Hi All! I am hoping everyone had a fabulous Christmas with loved ones. This picture is of our son and our two fur kids frolicking in the snow which was just the beginning of things to come. We ended up with 8.5" officially although I think it was a bit more where we live. So needless to say the kids got to spend an extra day with us. They will be leaving tomorrow and I will be a mother hen and worry until I get the phone call that they arrived home safely. With temperatures dipping into the teens and 60 mile an hour winds tomorrow it will be a cold day going out with the dogs! Although they seem to relish it. The dog on the left is our 13 soon to be 14 year old lab and we are so thankful for each day we have with her. She still plays like a pup...notice her legs in the air flying around in the snow!
Hope you have a wonderful week and I hope to be back soon with some new work. Smiles, Judi

I`m Back! Double Challenge Card!! 12/21/10

Hi Peeps! Sorry it has taken me so long to post!! Just a busy time of the year. I felt like doing a card today as I love red, black, and white and we were to paint so I was in my element. The first is the Color Challenge CC302 . I also did this card for krischir aka Kris as she is having wrist surgery tomorrow. This is for Teaparty Tuesday MMTPT125 . Hope you like it!
So is everyone ready for the BIG day? We have a couple more things to do and we will soon be done! The kids will be here tomorrow and I can`t wait! Love a noisy house. The weather looks like it will cooperate and we may get snow flurries on Christmas day!
I just want to let all of you know I am hoping each and everyone has a blessed Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year. I have some new things up my sleeve for the coming year that I hope you will enjoy.
Love you all!! Judi

Double Challenge Card and Rambling Thoughts! :-)

Hi! This is for today`s Inspiration Challenge and Stephanie has sent us to Bronner's Christmas Wonderland. I based my card on these darling Charming Tail Figures found here .This is also for QFTD37 ~ CaKath aka Kathy! I love her work and cased this darling Pure Innocence card .I know I am late Kathy but congratulations! Your gallery is awesome and you are a dear friend! Hugs to you!
So I went to my cardiologist on Thursday and found out the results of my echocardiogram. It was not very good news so I would appreciate you keeping me in your prayers. I will be seeing a specialist at Baptist Hospital just to discuss some options but I am not too keen on surgery. Time will tell. It just makes me realize how very important it is to live each day to its fullest. So remember to say those things that are in your heart to those you love.
Have you decorated yet? I am going with a much more natural theme this year trying to just incorporate some of natures bounty. And it is funny but I read the most heartfelt post on Zen Habits on buying Christmas presents which sums up my feelings totally on the subject! May not be a popular stand but one I so agree with. Read his post if you get a chance. I love this blog which is created and written by Leo Babauta.
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! They are calling for a chance of snow flurries here...I would so enjoy it! Hugs until next time! Judi

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hi All! Just wanted to take the time to wish all of my followers or those just stopping by a fabulous Thanksgiving! You know its truly not about the wonderful food and decorations. But the icing on the cake is nice! Don`t get me wrong. The traditional meal of turkey, dressing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pies sounds fabulous! But this year my sweet husband and I find ourselves alone this year and without the aforementioned menu. We had planned on going out tomorrow for a quiet meal and perhaps cooking our turkey this weekend. But my health issues have reared their ugly head and we will have to wait and see if I feel up to going out. My blood pressure is not cooperating with the new meds I am on and with a reading of 80/45 and sometimes lower I just don`t have the get up and go! And yes I have talked to my doctor and we are trying something different and I will be going to see him on Monday. But I am still so very thankful for so many things. And I hope to show that appreciaton in small ways to others. Reach out to others and see how something so simple can change your outlook on life! As that is what makes me happiest. So even though we may be eating a meal of whatever my husband thinks he can manage or gets us some carryout we will still be counting our many blessings. He is my rock and I love him more each day. We have been married for 39 years.I feel so fortunate to call him mine. :-)

And I have to mention man`s best friend. We have two fur kids as most of you know by now and they have stayed by my side during this entire ordeal. Unconditional love. And how true this quote is..."Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole." - Roger Caras

And thanks to you sweet Peggy who has so enriched my life this year. Love and appreciate you girlfriend!

And I want to thank each and every one of you who stops by my blog and takes the time to just say hi! Hugs and the very best to all of you!! Judi :-)

Hi Sis!!!!!!! I know we would be celebrating with you and yours if we lived closer. Hoping that happens one day soon! Hope you are able to enjoy tomorrow as I know all the hard work you have done this past week to make it enjoyable for all. Love ya!!
And a Happy Thanksgiving to our kids...we now have to share them with in-laws which works out well. We will have you for Christmas! :-) Love to Andy, Kristine, Jason, and Jess. And we will see our darling Ariel on Friday!!
Enjoy your time with family and friends!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some days are better than others...

Ok...I know I said cards were coming. And they are...just not quite sure when. I had a 14 pound box of PTI goodies sitting on my porch swing this morning and did not have the energy to care. EXTREMELY unlike me. Well they are switching my meds around yet again so thought I may need to check my blood pressure. So 74/54 may just explain my slowness today. We started with a b/p of 200/124( quite some time ago) but somehow I don`t think it was meant to go quite this low!
Going for an echocardiogram in morning. Will bring memories of the jelly put on my belly for ultrasounds while pregnant. That was looooong ago! So will be telling them of my pressure while there. Sometimes its just hard to hit the middle road with things. So slow I may be for a bit longer and tired. But I am breathing so have to be thankful for that!
Spending time with my dh the rest of the week who has taken time off and we are so enjoying each other. So think I may have to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving now as I will probably be scarce on blogger the rest of the week. Eat, drink, and be merry!
Candy will be coming after Thanksgiving...a post about it sometime next week.
I am also thankful for all my blogger friends and that means you, and you, and you! Hugs, Judi

Thankful Post ~ Carolina Blue Skies Again!

Hi All! Can you believe this is the same tree in yesterday`s post exactly one week later? Well it is! This tree lost its leaves just that quickly. This was taken today and our Carolina Blue Skies prevail once again. :-) No touch ups either! Notice the birds nest to the left? Many birds family in this tree. Such fun to watch!
So on to another thankful post again in no particular order!

A surprise John Stewart email (wink, wink), Fabriano paper, windy days, a great haircut, a clear starry night, the sound of our grandfather clock, 6 ounce cokes in bottles, seashells, hospice house, doctors who really care, people paying it forward, libraries, a noisy house, a quiet house, our vegetable garden, sheets on a clothesline, letting someone ahead of you in a long line at the grocery store and them thanking you with a smile, cotton candy, the memories of my childhood, the birth of a baby, hope, faith, and knowing I am enough.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! I have my dh home for the next 8 days!! YAY!!
May even have a card for you tomorrow...stay tuned.
And do share what you are thankful for! My followers are too quiet!!
I feel a giveaway coming soon. Hugs! Judi

Carolina Blue Skies...

So I must be in a nostalgic mood...dreaming of holidays long ago. Thanksgiving will soon be on us and thought I would share some random thoughts each day until then as to what I am thankful for.

In no particular order!!

Carolina blue skies, the scent of fall with its drying leaves and crispness to the air, the most wonderful dh and my true soulmate who would go to the furthest moons and back for me, ladybugs, bluebirds, a drink of cold, cold Le Bleu water when thirsty, smiling at a stranger when out shopping and having them smile back, my sister Linda and Arthur her significant other, our sons who are as different as sauerkraut and chocolate pudding, sauerkraut, chocolate pudding, my morning conversations with Aunt Lillian, baby fingers and toes, a good book which is so good we don`t want it to end, the travel channel, the food channel, Turtle Watch Beach House, my little Canadian friend, the french language, Lithuanian descendants who are a strong and good people and who I am from, sushi and chopsticks, wool yarns, papers of all kinds, paintbrushes, the smell of puppie`s breath, flowers, the sea, and gasoline, cameras, vintage anything, snowflakes, Ariel our gd. And I can`t think of a better place to stop today. :-)
Hugs to you all and here is hoping you have a fabulous weekend! Tell someone you love that you love them!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just want to say thank you!! Congrats and wear your crown proudly! You are sooo deserving! Hugs! Read all about it here .This is the card  I chose and was inspired by in Michelle`s gallery.Isn`t her Wee Henry a cutie pie? MMTPT118 Teaparty Card! 11/02/10

Hi! I am late but finally made it to the teaparty!! We are going to Colorado this week. I have no words of wisdom this week...just special thoughts of Mr. and Mrs. Cotton ~ Tracim aka Traci`s mother and father. Read about it here and join us won`t you?I used the black and white so I didn`t have to come in the backdoor and used Hero Arts stamps. Thanks for looking and have a great evening!

Color Challenge and Card Patterns Sketch! 11/02/10

Hi! This is a card I did for today`s color challenge brought to us by MaryR917 aka Mary who is not only on the color challenge design team but is hostessing her first challenge! Way to go Mary! Beautiful Autumn colors ~ Peach Parfait, Cajun Craze, and Early Espresso. Congrats to you Mary and also to Joanne and Vicki for making the team! I used a HA script bg stamp and inked it with StazOn Timber Brown Ink. I then used Versamark on my HA floral image and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then applied Distress Inks using a foam applicator from Ranger. My sketch is from this week`s  Card Patterns Sketch 88 .This week`s dessert option was ric rac and I made mine from cs and a PTI die. Hope you like it! Thanks for looking and have a fabulous day!

Double Challenge Card 11/01/10

This is a simple double challenge card. First it is based on a card done by yesterday`s Featured Stamper ~ CherylQuilts. She will get your MOJO going! Congrats Cheryl! I am a long time admirer of your work and I appreciate your sweet comments. Enjoy your time in the spotlight! My card also qualifies for today`s CAS challenge to do Sympathy Cards. Not a pleasant task but always good to have on hand. I let the beautiful stamps from Mark`s Finest Papers and the Fabriano paper to do the talking and felt like nothing else was needed. Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day! It felt good to get in the craft room even if it was a quick card!

And the WINNER IS......

Post Number 14 ~
marilynprestonn said...

Judi, you know how much I enjoy getting lost into novels. I just love those "page-turners" the most. I have read a book called Lost & found, by Jacqueline Sheehan. It's about a widow that decides to move to a place where nobody knows her and struggles with her grieving, and finds more than love on the way to it.

It was quite interesting to read the "internal dialogue" she has about the whole thing. If you love stories with dogs, there is one cool one in there too.

Thank you Judi, for this fun idea and different kind of Candy! Hugsxo

I looooooooooove you!

BLOG CANDY!!!!!!!! LOOK!! 40.00 GC!!

Hi All!! Seems like I may be back online so what better way to celebrate than with some blog candy! This is going to be a bit different. First in order to enter I do ask that you be a follower of my blog. :-) Then all you have to do is leave me a comment on this post and let me know what the title and author was of the last book you read. That is it! If you want to link my blog candy to your blog I would be honored but it is not required. And on October 31 by midnight there will be a random drawing. Ok...so you want to know what you are playing for? A 40.00 Gift Certificate to Amazon.com! Sound like fun? You may enter more than once but will have had to read and shared another book. Reading is such an integral part of our family. My only problem is finding enough hours in a day but I have come to realize some things are worth making the time for. So lets get started and pass the word on to others!! The gift certificate logo will stay to the top right and you can click on it to get to this post. Good luck everyone!!

So what have I been UP TO???

So some of you may not have noticed me missing...others yes. To those wondering what I have been up to...the picture pretty much tells the tale while I recline and keep my feet up going INSANE!!!!!!!!!! Yes...I love to read, look at new doll catalogs, do word searches (and note this one is indeed in LARGE PRINT), and crochet dishcloths while Andrew Zimmern eats a snail or entrails from some exotic animal. I have made salads (in my head) with Giada, Julia Child, and Rachel Ray. I have also watched every Halloween movie there is and dreamt to those that haven`t been made yet!! LOL And I have talked on the phone with Peggy Elms, my little friend from Canada who truly has restored my sanity...we seem to do that for each other. We seem to know when a long conversation is in order and ramble on about this and that and laugh a WHOLE lot. My sister too has helped with this and called to check on me along with my husband who asks...Can I get you anything on the way home? (this man is unbelievable...girls you should be jealous on this count as a dearer or more thoughtful man is not to be had in this world or the next!) A son from Wilmington...whats up Mom? he says and always makes my day.We have another son...and no I have not heard from him but I guess when he is ready he will give us a call...we love them both just the same and all the same.  :-)
I am fortunate to have 2 sweet furbabies staring up at me with such unconditional love and concern it nearly breaks my heart. They care not that my hair is mussed this way and that (although that is a hairdo I really do wear!) or that my eyes are bloodshot and sagging from late nights and too many without sleeping.
But I am truly not complaining. There are always so many worse off than me that I won`t go there right now as depression is too easy a thing to sneak up on us. I have a wonderful life and feel very fortunate to be me.
Planning cards in a sketchbook and will have something for you soon! Even truly signing up for those painting classes which excites me!!
So until next time....hugs to all!! Judi

Featured Stamper Card!! 10/24/10

Hi! This card was made and inspired by today`s Featured Stamper LynniePoo! Congrats Lynette! You are so deserving. You have such a clean style that I just adore! You had so many choices to case but I finally settled on this gorgeous card .I kept the same basic lo but changed my matting from pink to Bermuda Bay. I changed your flowers to a blue spruce tree and added snowflakes rather than a butterfly. I also changed my sentiment. I feel like this card could either be used as a sympathy card or a Christmas card! And it is an easy one to produce many of. I hope you like it! Thanks for looking and have a fabulous Sunday!

Innovative Stamp Creations!! Stamp Release!! Day 4!! 10/24/10

Sunday 10/24/10

Day 4:

Are you ready Christmas?

The talented Creative Architects’ were given a different ISC Christmas line to create a card! Have you started Christmas shopping yet? How many handmade Christmas cards have you created? Do you buy store bought Christmas cards instead?
Hope my New Year`s card will inspire you today!

My card is CAS. I embossed half of a white cs panel and popped it up. Used a MS Corner Punch on one corner. Stamped the beautiful tree trio and sponged in some bg color and added ultrafine glitter for a bit of snow. Added the Happy New Year sentiment and Basic Grey DP to the inside. Easy peasy! I think it is nice to receive New Year`s cards after the hustle and bustle of the holiday`s!! Hope you like my idea and have a fabulous day!
