This is from my Aunt Mabel (who has sinced pass) and was a fine cook.
Wishing Well Cake
1 cup Crisco 3 tsp almond extract
2 cups sugar 1/2 tsp salt
5 eggs 2 cups all purpose flour
Blend sugar and crisco. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add extract and salt. Gradually add flour. Bake ABOUT an hour in a 325 degrees oven. It may take a bit longer but test in one hour. I use a greased and dusted with flour bundt pan. Back when we used to make it they used a tube pan.
The recipe calls for a glaze of 1 cup powdered sugar and 4 tsp water but the cake is so good and the top is so nice and crusty without we never used it.
If you like a dense, moist, crusty topped almond flavored pound cake...you will be in heaven.
Thanks again to Peggy who made my birthday extra special.
I especially miss you today Mom...although there is not a day that goes by that I don`t miss or think about you.
